6 You will hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that you are not alarmed, for this is something that must happen, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
8 All this is only the beginning of the birth pangs.
9 Then they will hand you over to be tortured and put to death; and you will be hated by all nations on account of my name.
10 And then many will be given occasion to stumble; people will betray one another and hate one another.

8 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This is the beginning of the birth-pangs.
9 ‘Take care of yourselves: you will be handed over to councils; you will be beaten in synagogues; and you will be brought before governors and kings because of me, as evidence to them,

12 Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will come forward against their parents and put them to death.
13 You will be hated by all on account of my name, but anyone who endures to the end will be saved.

19 For in those days there will be great distress, unparalleled since the beginning of creation which God created until now, and such as will surely never be.
20 And if the Lord had not shortened that time, no human being would have survived; but he has shortened the time, for the sake of the elect whom he chose.

9 And when you hear of wars and upheavals, do not be terrified, for these things must happen first, but the end will not come at once.’
10 Then he said to them, ‘Nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
11 There will be great earthquakes and plagues and famines in various places; there will be terrifying events and great signs from heaven.
